BPEX PORK PRODUCT OF THE YEAR COMPETITION 2009

We were delighted to win the prestigious "National Pork Product of the Year" for the second consecutive year!

This time it was our "Lincolnshire Yellow Belly Pie" that really impressed the judges and secured the company's position as Overall Champion once more.
It's a truly local product, containing outdoor reared Lincolnshire Farm Assured Pork topped with Lincolnshire Smoked Poacher Cheese.The name "yellow Belly"Actually comes from the Lincolnshire Regiment who wore yellow tunics as part of their uniform-and the regional link along with the matching colour of the cheese seemed rather apt.

We also won the "Best Cold Eating Product" category with a "Beaujolais Terrine" and achieved second place with a "Bloody Mary Parcel" in the "Best Innovative Pork Product" category along with 11 gold awards and 3 silver awards.

2008 National Pork Product of the Year

JOHN PETTIT CROWNED OVERALL WINNER OF THE 2008 NATIONAL PORK PRODUCT OF THE YEAR

Our category winning ‘Tamarind, Maple & Maderia Stuffed Pork Loin’ fresh pork dish proved such a hit with the judges that it also went on to be crowned Overall Winner in the competition. In addition, their Lincolnshire Pork, Cider & Apple Pie was voted as the ‘Best Pork & Pastry’ product.

“The pork loin dish, which was developed by my wife Val stemmed from an idea we had for a Christmas ham. We wanted something different; the marinated ham sold extremely well over the festive period, so the marinade was utilised in new forcemeat and extended to the pork loin and has worked exceptionally well.”

Pettit’s won five gold and two silver medals at the same event.
